INTER:FASE
SCENIC HYPERREALITY
INTER:FASE is a scenic, visual, and digital experience combining dance and augmented reality. A reflection on the obsession with identity and the fabrication of the real in the virtual age. A work of hyperreality that explores the thresholds between reality and virtuality, body and avatar, presence and identity. A search for choreographic innovation through the virtual body. Technological puppetry.
The piece explores the fragmentation of identity in the digital era through the rediscovery of a woman’s individuality and her virtual double. An immersion of the human being into interconnection with new virtual spaces. INTER:FASE evokes the threshold: the valley where reality and double, presence and potential, still appear as reflections of one another.
On stage, a performer wearing a motion-capture suit transfers her gestures, in real time, to a photorealistic avatar located within a virtual environment. The result is projected onto the scenic space. The aim of this work is to create a scenic and choreographic language that enables an encounter between physical stage reality and virtual reality. Dance becomes the embodiment of another body, exposed to new ways of conceiving movement.
