Lo Inaudible
Neuma, a middle-aged scientist, lives alone and secluded in a soundproof laboratory perched atop a mountain. For years, she has been listening to the edges of deep space, hoping to detect a cosmic signal that might help humanity unravel the mysteries of the reality surrounding it. After years of listening, she identifies a female voice coming from space.
This voice plunges her into a sonic delirium that leads her toward a rediscovery of herself, her existence, and her surroundings. In this psychological journey, guided by sound, she encounters Zonda, a woman who seems to understand what is happening to her. The relationship between the two women becomes a mystical and intimate revelation. Soon, they realize that they may share some kind of connection. A sensual yet unsettling atmosphere accompanies them as the reality around them begins to disintegrate. The sonic ecstasy in which they are immersed leads them to perceive the universe and intimacy as a single, shared space. What begins as a search for cosmic and scientific meaning gradually transforms into a personal quest, directed toward the intimacy of human essence.
The short film creates an atmosphere that merges the sensitivity of intimacy with the sublimity of the cosmos. An immersion into that which surpasses our understanding. A reminder that what we know about the world—and about ourselves—is in constant transformation. And that human beings are merely another note in the vast symphony of the cosmos.
