Field recordings from oblivion

Field Recordings from Oblivion is an immersive dance and audiovisual performance designed to be presented in public spaces at 360º. It is an exploration of oblivion, dreams, and depopulated landscapes—a piece where the present of dance meets the vastness of audiovisual media. It calls for expanding the boundaries of the discipline and exploring audiovisual storytelling in the streets. The projected images play with the illusion of live performance, using projections that mimic the stage present to reframe and resignify it.

A woman, a man, and multiple televisions. An ode to the geography of oblivion, seen through the lens of a digital culture that remembers everything. A tribute to the past lives of neglected territories, composed in the era of virtuality and climate crisis. Love, tenderness, and intimacy between a couple unfold through their shared dream—a dream that merges with lost landscapes. An emotional journey that guides us through a fleeting encounter into the depths of two minds, with love and oblivion as the backdrop.

The piece rethinks our relationship with what is forgotten. It is inspired by the nostalgia that lingers in abandoned landscapes, the human bond with territory, and the relationships woven upon these backdrops. The television screens and projected images embody the memory of a massively digitized society. More and more, we delegate the space of our memory to the virtual realm. But how do digital recordings reshape what used to be personal memories? Why do recordings—intended to eradicate forgetting—in reality, only accelerate it?

Is our digital era witnessing the end of oblivion, or merely its reformulation into an overwhelming flood of images? What will happen when nothing is ever forgotten?
